Coaching With Me

Welcome!
Here are some FAQs for working with me.
-David

The Basics...

Your dreams, desires, areas of comfort, and goals — these are yours, and yours alone!

I will help you uncover and clarify your own goals, define success on your own terms, and provide structured guidance toward your reaching ever-greater fulfillment.

Furthermore, in Life Coaching, the way we relate and proceed is always up for clear negotiation. We continually design our alliance, so you engage in growth on your own terms.

Life stages are important

One aspect of adulting and eldering that I am passionate about, is awareness of life stage transitions. Every time we proceed from one life stage to another, there are important losses; ideally there are important gains, as well.

Sometimes it is hard to recognize and honor these transitions. What helps: taking the losses seriously and honoring their inherent pain and depth; while learning to see, in the midst of change's turmoil, opportunities never seen or understood at earlier stages.

I keep my attention ready to see these precious opportunities, working to help my coaching clients to see these with whatever mixes of grieving, honor, hope, and celebration ring true to richer growth.

Going Deeper...

Intimacy, romance, sex, and erotic connection

Pursuit of good, consensual intimacy, romance, sex, and erotic connection—and/or absence if that’s how you roll—is your birthright.
Becoming your deeper, truer adult self may, at various times, involve exploration toward enjoyment and comfort with your place in the erotic arena — or even defining your place comfortably outside of it altogether.

We can address this in Whole-Life Coaching. For going deeper, consider Sacred Intimacy work

I am comfortable and supportive about how you wish to live, relative to both romantic and erotic/sexual landscapes: vanilla to kink and BDSM; monogamy to open or poly relationships; gradations of cis-hetero to queer/LGBTQIA+. I have no goals for your life other than that you live with integrity and move toward healthy fulfillment.

Good intimacy also requires good boundaries.

Because topics in this arena can be charged for many reasons, I will help you to create and maintain strong, caring boundaries—in our work and in your relationships beyond. Good boundaries are an extremely important aspect of growth.

All this realness is about helping you to find ever-changing, ever-expanding goodness and growth in your entire adult landscape of fulfillment.

And there’s an unexpected bonus: when you learn to talk about your private adult erotic desires, and challenges, you also build the courage needed to better recognize, discuss, and pursue the rest of your life’s dreams and desires.

The Coaching Relationship

How long does coaching last?

Bottom-line, we'll continue until both, or one of us, is clear that we're complete.

My preference is that we plan for a three-month stretch of coaching, to be continued if we both desire: I find that it takes some time for a new client to get a feel for the contours, the ups and downs that come with sincere good work. But that is a soft requirement. If you think you're done, you're probably done!

Common patterns with clients:

Many clients complete at approximately 3 months. Nearly as many continue for 8 months, Some continue for several years.

Some nail it at 2 months. A few have completed after one or several sessions.

Interestingly, I've had really successful 1-time coaching engagements. This is all about what will be most effective for your needs, and that can differ among people and situations.

Completion: It's okay to say you're done.
I'm not afraid or perturbed to hear that a client is done.

Your Life Fulfillment Panel should always be shifting. I simply and deeply believe that. I feel warmth and affection for my clients! So I may feel sad to say goodbye, even as I wish you only goodness as you move on in knowledge that you're ready.

When a client realizes that they're done, I find that I'm happy.

Reach out — I look forward to hearing from you
